My file is stuck uploading at 100%
Errors with uploading files larger than 500MB can be tricky to debug because when something fails it isn’t always on our end.
For example: sometimes your browser can timeout or throw an error, the file may be partially corrupted and more often than not, the browser just gives up if it doesn’t hear back from our servers in a timely enough matter during the file upload… If we could fix the latter issue on our end we would but it is a browser dependent bug.
Here are some things to note when uploading large files for free:
- Files larger than 500MB, e.g. files between 500MB and 2200MB in size are first uploaded to our special “large file capacity” server farm then automatically transferred from those servers to our high speed CDN (Content Delivery Network).
- Because those files in essence need to double upload, it can take about 1.5x longer to upload as compared to a file less than 500MB in size which is just directly uploaded to the CDN bypassing the “large file capacity” servers.
- Sometimes the file upload progress bar can get stuck at 100%, this is COMPLETELY NORMAL for files larger than 500MB is size.
- When it’s frozen at 100% this usually means it has successfully uploaded the large file to the “large file capacity” servers and is currently in the process of transferring the file over to our CDN.
- However do note this; it shouldn’t be stuck at 100% forever, usually only for 1 minute for every 100MB uploaded beyond 500MB. After the transfer to the CDN is complete SizableSend.com will then display your download links, thus completing the large file upload process.
Tips on uploading files larger than 500MB:
- Try uploading it in Internet Explorer; of all the browsers we have tested it seems to work the best.
- Be patient, large files can take hours to upload and 99.9% of the time the speed bottle neck is your internet connection, not our servers.
- Contact us with any errors you receive and we will do our best to resolve them.
- ENJOY! Remember, SizableSend.com is the only 100% free file uploader that lets you upload an unlimited amount of files up to 2.2GB each. No other service offers anything close without making you sign up for a trial account or pay for it. That being said, we are a free service and can’t troubleshoot every single issue simply because we don’t have the man power – nevertheless we will always do our best.

After transferring 1 file of 571.MB on my iMac with Safari 5.0.2, the issue above happened, where it was stuck at 100% and that lasted for over 2 hrs. I tried another browser Firefox 3.6.10 and the same issue occurred. And also used Chrome 6.0.472.63. And all had the same issue!!!!!
Is there any other Mac OS X 10.5.8 browser that will work completely for large files. I tested this with a file about 10MB and it worked perfectly. But not on the large file size.
First, let us apologize on the delayed reply of this message. As I’m sure you have noticed from the site we have been hard at work rolling out our New version of Sizable Send which will be must faster, easier and more reliable. However as your comment denotes, you have experienced some of the issues we are currently troubleshooting on the new site.
Rick, the issues you were experiencing were most likely due to one of the bugs in our new software update, many of which will be worked out by the time you read this. Large file uploads should work fine with Safari, try it again and let us know if the issue occurs. Although do note that we foresee it taking the remainder of this week before all bugs are worked out of the new large file sender. Sorry for your troubles.
If you say that after a 100% upload there is still something going on in the background, there should be some visual indicator of it like a progress bar or something so that one doesn’t assumes its stuck, which currently is very easy to assume.
Thanks for the suggestion, in the newest version of Sizable Send the file uploader is more “intelligent” and will let you know when a file is in the process of being transferred to the “High Speed Download Servers” instead of getting stuck at 100%.
You can see some examples of the new large file uploaders here:

http://www.sizablesend.com/file-upload/photo-sharing/
http://www.sizablesend.com/file-upload/send-music/

i don’t see any % while uploading so i have no idea what is happening with the file, i just say it’s processing!!!!!
Can you please send us a screenshot to customer.relations@sfusion.com so we can see if and where you are stuck.
Is this a know issue? I guess the “getting stuck at 100%”. thing?
“Remix.zip (297.41MB) – Transferring file to High Speed Download Servers. This may take a few minutes…”
Just been like this for ages and I know the service is free, but when trying to hit a deadline you don’t know whether or not it would be quicker to start again.
Many thanks,
Nick.
This is a known issue, but it rarely occurs and is usually due to an issue on the end users computer, not with our service. However this previous weekend we were hard at work implementing new changes that will hopefully avoid these issues from occurring in the first place. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
I have a problem with mine getting stuck at 100% even though the file is only 175MG. Any suggestions?
